The Crochet Journey begins
My name is Anne and I’ve been crocheting since I was 10 years old. I live in County Wicklow on the East Coast of Ireland. Crochet has an important part in our Irish history (more about that soon.)
The colour of the Irish landscapes makes up my palette when I’m crocheting. the colours of the Sea, the Mountains, the Woodlands.
“Our sea is not the turquoise blue of the Caribbean, but more greys, navys and dark greens, “stormy colours,” edge with lacey white horses. On a flat calm sunny day, it will be a shade darker than the sky and, on the horizon, the 2 colours will merge together like a dip-dyed cloth. (Sorry I digress.)”
Crochet is my passion and I like nothing more than scrolling the internet for yarn that can be worked to make amazing things. I can spend hours looking for that particular colour green or grey or any colour for that matter. I know you have been there, it an integral part of the design process. When I travel, you will probably find me hiding out in the yarn section of a craft shop. The bigger the craft shop the better.
My journey so far.
I’ve spent time designing and making bespoke cocktail, debs and wedding dresses.
Teaching sewing and knitting machine in Resource Centre (Community House).
Craft training in a Day Centre for people with physical disabilities.
Running Arts and Crafts classes for children.
Over the years I’ve taught crochet to adults and children.
Time passed, and I found myself sitting at a computer for a living, with no time for Crochet or crafts with a screen saver that SHOUTED:

and I made the decision, I decided to follow my passion, to take time out to create the designs I see in my head, to explore crochet as a 3D fibre art form. To crochet in all sorts of medium. This is the beginning of my Journey. I would like you to join me. See how far we can go, in making the ideas and dreams come true.
